Hugo Rocha, project director of Hub APTA, participated in the mining convention COMIN, organized by the Department of Metallurgical and Mining Engineering at the Universidad Católica del Norte.
An enriching dialogue on the future of mining activity took place at the first COMIN event, which brought together representatives of government bodies, business and academia.
The APTA technology transfer hub was represented at the activity by its director, Hugo Rocha, who presented the scope and objectives of the project and took part in a specialized discussion panel.
“The Hub was invited to participate due to its focus on the mining area and the interest of the Department of Metallurgical and Mining Engineering in developing technologies to resolve problems in this productive sector. For us, it was important to support this first event and take advantage of the chance to disseminate what we are doing at APTA”, Rocha explained.
During the event, the project director emphasized the Hub’s mission of “researching the needs of the market” and generating spin-off and start-up ventures for the development of technologies in the mining area. “We are here to support ventures to transfer the results of R&D, as part of our objectives”, the director of APTA continued.
